Sikh Museum Balongi

Recently, I got a chance to visit these life sized sculptures depicting Sikh history in village Balongi, Mohali. The hard work and dedication done by the artist speaks for itself from these statues.

Most of the statues are placed indoors, pictures of the statues placed outside are shared here.

Bhai Kanhayia Ji statue

Bhai Kanhayia Ji served water to wounded and thirsty soldiers irrespective of the side of battle they belonged to. Bhai Sahib proved what it means to see God in all.

Bhai Bachittar Singh attacking the Elephant

Bhai Bachittar Singh was a Sikh warrior well known for his deed in the second battle of Anandpur where a drunk elephant was sent out by the Mughal forces to break the gate of Lohgarh fort. Bhai Bachittar Singh riding a horse injured the elephant’s head piercing through the armor with a Nagni Barcha (Snake Spear). The injured elephant ran back towards the Mughal forces and crushed them.

This statue of Banda Singh Bahadur at the Sikh Museum is inspired from one of the famous paintings of the personality.

Banda Singh Bahadur being tortured to death

Banda Singh Bahadur was tortured to death after being imprisoned for 3 months. The heart of Banda Singh’s son was put in his mouth in an attempt to humiliate him. His execution took place in Delhi.

shaheed uddham singh statue

Udham Singh better known as Shaheed Udham Singh is one of the greatest Sikh personalities of 20th century. He avenged the killing of thousands of innocent people at Jallianwalah Bagh in 1919 by killing the then governor of Punjab, Michael O’Dwyer.
